Tasting Notes
This masterpiece shochu is made from carefully selected good quality sweet potatoes "Koganesengan" and unripe potatoes are picked away by hand. Natural water unique to Kagoshima Prefecture which springs several hundred meters from the underground volcanic ash soil (Shirasu plateau) is used. The distilled base liquor is slowly rested and carefully matured to finish and blended with young sake for a powerful taste!
1. What is Shochu?
Japanese Shochu ( 焼酎) is a Japanese distilled beverage. It is typically distilled from rice (kome), barley (mugi), sweet potatoes (satsuma-imo), buckwheat (soba), or brown sugar (kokutō), though it is sometimes produced from other ingredients such as chestnut, sesame seeds, potatoes or even carrots.
